Migraine can be triggered by anything from fluctuating temperature, weather changes, stress, lack of sleep and even strong odours. But there are few foods that can actually help you to keep migraine at bay or just reduce the intensity of headaches.
1. Fish: Salmon and few other fishes are the rich source for Omega-3 fatty acids, which can actually help to reduce the intensity of migraines. According to the research done at the University of Cincinnati people who took omega-3 supplements showed a considerable fall in the intensity of migraines in few people who took omega-3 over the course of six weeks.
2. Coffee: Though coffee is known to trigger headaches in few people but the moment migraine strikes a few cups of coffee might help to relieve the pain. Caffeine helps to shrink the swollen blood vessels in the brain, even in a few migraine medicines, caffeine is the key ingredient.
3. Ginger: This warm spice contains compounds that are quite similar in the anti-inflammatory drugs. It may work against migraines by jamming inflammatory substances known as prostaglandins. Ginger hasn’t been scientifically proved to relieve headache, but even if it doesn’t stop your migraine, it can at least help you relieve the nausea that often comes with it.
4. Flaxseeds: F ew headaches are caused by inflammation, which can be reduced by taking omega-3 fatty acids. And flax seeds are a rich source of it.
